Olive Palestine follows the land of Palestine month by month: what is picked, pressed and planted, the food made from it, and the heritage kept around it. Each month opens on the season as it stands that day: the picking calendar, the figures that shape the harvest, and the stories from the groves, the presses, the fields and the kitchen.
How we work
Every story names its source. Figures carry the body that counted them and the day they were counted; a figure without a named source is not printed.
Photographs show people and places in their own colour, with a caption that says where, when and who took it. An archive photograph says it is one; a photograph from another year says which year.
Corrections
When we get something wrong, the story says so, with the date of the correction and what changed.
